Sonograms kinda freak me out, I've got to admit. Usually I wonder why people want to show pictures of alien-like creatures floating inside giant kidney beans. But, in true hypocrite fashion, all that goes out the window when it is a family member.
So, everyone, meet Mara, my niece.
Oh, yes, my friends, there will be knitting.

Holy hell, I read that post waaayyy to quick and I thought YOU were preggers! Whew! Well congrats on your alien niece =) (I'm kidding, she's beautiful!!)
Oh, puck, I deleted my own comment, trying to correct a spelling mistake!!
Thanks ladies for the congrats. I'm cracking my knuckles in anticipation of some seriously fun knitting.
Apparently black and white with hot pink (or, if the sonogram was too early and it is a boy, lime green) is what I am going to be knitting!
Congratulations on the auntieness!
When I was having kids 20+ years ago, everyone was debating the question of having or not having sonograms. All my doctors and midwives through the years discouraged them. I was literally wrong every time on the sex of my baby when I gave birth and I'm a pretty intuitive person. Nowadays, sonograms are just a matter of course and the resolution is so fantastic that the babies hardly look like aliens anymore. If I were having babeis today, I'd really be tempted to have one every day! except for it's probably a way for doctors and insurance companies to make big money!
I'm a horrible aunt. When I first saw my niece's sonogram I had a hard figuring out what I was looking at. When people started pointing the parts out I just said, "I hope it comes out cuter."
But then again my whole family is in agreement that sonograms are creepy pictures.
